The Building a Tradesman (B.A.T.) program is part of the FSDB Career and Technical Education program that is designed to help students develop the competencies include skills and knowledge related to safety practices, the proper use of hand and power tools, plan reading, basic rough carpentry, and framing; as well as woodworking skills for cabinetmaking. The Construction Technologies classes are using their trade learned in the classroom, and taking their lesson to practice by building the 10-foot, octagonal-shape gazebo. Use of mathematical application in fractional measurement and critical thinking skills will be applied to this hands-on training. The gazebo will be made purely from scratch, and nothing from a kit.
